I never whirlpool but I have been hearing folks racking from brew pot to fermented.. I have always just dumped the pot into the pale.. Is there a good reason to rack into the pale

OK so now the krausen has reached the neck of the Better Bottle 6gallon Carboy. Just put a blowoff tube on and looking forward to see the progress tomorrow morning.

This is exactly why I thought a contest would be a fun way to get some new ideas without brewing 5 different IPAs at the same time. Just saying it could be a cool way to get some more ideas.

There is a growing krausen (about an inch or so) and fermentation has definitely started.. The temp is sitting at about 64* now and we are waiting for the massive raging fermentation others...

got it.. Sounds like it is very picky..
I am along for the ride as I want to see how this progresses.. I would love to find an ale yeast that is very flocculant and has a good temp range.
