Luckily, the local supermarket had a sale on good tasting plums. I've now moved to the secondary, with plums added. I'll give it about a month, I...

Nylon bags & elements

I've got a 2200w element in my "boiling bucket". I'm going to put another one in.

I brew with BIAB, and during the test run, the element weakened the bag to the point of rupturing, spilling a...

Had a second sample today. Diacetyl is no longer noticeable. Fermentation seems to have stopped, with only the bubbling that seems to be from remnant CO2. I've been rousing it a bit to get rid of...

Ooh, I see that the Swedish alcohol monopoly currently carries a Danish rye stout. I've got to track down a monopoly store with them and pick it up.

You can get them to import stuff for you, but...

Rye beer

I'm a HUGE fan of rye beer. Sierra Nevada's Ruthless Rye is one of my favourite beers.

I like just about every beer style there is, but I was thinking I'd make a rye ale of some kind my next...

Yeah, this was much of a test run. I'm not sure why I did something with 15lbs of grain for a test run, but there you go.

I think I'm going to make an ESB next. A nice 5% thing.

Okay, the wort having warmed up, it's bubbling a bit more calmly now than initially, 1-2 plops per minute. I couldn't keep good track of it downstairs, so it might not be a big change. It's been...

Adding plums

All right, once they are ready from the garden, I'm going to rack my beer on top of some plums. Not sure exactly how much yet.

Hmm, had a look at the plum trees. Doesn't look like they will give as much this year (as is often the case). I'll pick the first tree (it matures faster), crush and freeze them, pick the second, and...
