While I am not against using BKF... a few hours is extremely excessive. Stainless will repassivate almost instantaneously with just air.

But yes, clean it well with BKF. Don't need to soak it...

I don't see why it wouldn't be. Blichmann's can support an element, and they're fairly thinwalled. As far as the element, I have a 4500W element in my kettle, and it's plenty fine for 7gallons...
