Yeah the first one I tried was a disaster. 27lbs. of grain and I had to do a decoction simply cause I ran out of space though looking back if I mashed with less water I would have been ok.

I wouldn't pitch directly on the previous cake directly. I found out the hard way when I pitched a beer on a previous cake/trub without yeast washing and had to dump the later. Never again.
