Duda Diesel - Duda Diesel Small 30 Plate Heat Exchanger
REVIEWS(8 Total Reviews) Add A Review
Pros: Extremely fast chilling, solid construction
Cons: Always run the chance to clog plates with no way to take it apart.
Recommended? YesI bought this to replace an immersion chiller that took ~15-20 minutes to chill 5 gallons. Outside air temp where the hose was running through (with a little snow on the ground) was ~25 degrees. This chilled my beer to pitching temp from boiling in less than 3 minutes. Probably would take about 5 during the summer. Was extremely satisfied with this product.

Price: $0.00Does anyone know if it works well being gravity fed not pumped
Pros: Well made, compact, easy to clean and sanitize, cost effective, fast efficient wort cooling.
Recommended? YesDuda Diesel makes a great wort chiller!
Even better, it is very
cost competitive (some competing models cost several times more -- with
no apparent advantages). The relatively low price does not come at the
sacrifice of quality or effectiveness. It is visibly well made and
chills very efficiently (here in the tropics, my "cooling water" out of
the tap is 80-85F, but this Duda Diesel chiller brought my wort from
about 180F to 95F in the first past, which only took a matter of
minutes. Wow, that's impressive! Maybe I should pull the heat exchanger
off my boat engine and replace it with one of these!)
Very glad I
did not waste time & money building or buying an immersion chiller
(even if you home-build one...copper tubing is not cheap these days!).
Even if you value your time at $0 then the parts alone to build an
immersion chiller could cost you almost as much as this product. And,
there is no practical way for the end result to be this fast &
efficient. This is simply a much better solution.

Sure has made my brew day quicker and easier!

Cons: Need to back flush after every use. Hops can get stuck in it and clog it. I have never had this happen to me.
Recommended? YesI have the duda diesel B3-23A 40 Plate chiller and i can cool 15gl of wort from 212 down to tap water temp as fast as i can pump it.
Pros: They work like advertised. Fast dependable service. They have several sizes to choose from to balance your needs of chilling with the right size chiller.
Cons: As with ALL non-servicable chillers. You must take care cleaning and sanitizing or you will ruin beer.
Recommended? YesDudaDiesel has many sizes of heat exchangers. This will allow you to find one that fits all of your criteria. I recommend you take time to read their chart on choosing one. And as for the person who did the review who said they couldn't get a response, I find it hard to believe. I have had several dealings with this company for beer goods and bio-diesel and they are top notch with support for me.
I also have a Blichman unit; I think the Blichman is built a little better, but I'm happier with the price/quality ratio of the DudaDiesel unit.
It doesn't matter which brand you buy, clean clean clean. Then make sure it is sanitized twice over. My Blichman unit is 3 years old with many many brew put through it and little pieces of debri seem to never quit coming out of it when back flushing. I now keep an extra inline filter in front of my plate chillers.
Summary; Buy with confidence.
