Pros: Ease of use, looks cool, make fly sparging a breeze!
Cons: Un like every other product out there, Blichmann decided to use 1/2 straight threads as opposed to 1/2 tapered NPT threads, requiring the user to purchase an extra fitting to connect it to the existing equipment!
Recommended? YesI am an avid fly sparger and the Blichmann Auto Sparge is a great addition to any brewers arsenal of tools to brew great beer:-) I have mine installed in my converted Keg (Keggle) and I can do 10 Gal all grain IIPA's with grain bills up to 31 lbs with no issues. My only complaint is that the threads that are on the device are 1/2 straight, unlike EVRY other brewing accessory out there that uses standard 1/2 NPT TAPERED threads. So I went to attach a 1/2 brass valve I had from McMaster lying around and I was only able to get 2-3 threads on, forcing me to get an adapter.... Long story short this is a great product if you want a set it and forget it assistant for your fly sparging:-)
