Just freed up a carboy and Im ready to make my first batch of mead. Looking for fruity and bold..with a kick. Possibly with nutmeg etc Maybe 17%. Blackberries are cheapest in my area right now. Looking forward to your thoughts. Tully

I've read about a few good blackberry meads. I would use K1V-1116 and add half the berries during primary and the other half for a few weeks in secondary. Probably 1.5 to 2 pounds of fruit per gallon. Freeze the fruit first to break the cellular structure and release the juices.

Look into staggered nutrient additions and step feeding to get to 17% ABV.
