So what can be done with an old cold water tank?

Had to have the water tank (we have a well) replaced a little while back, and now I have an old tank sitting waiting to be thrown out.

Can anyone think of any homebrew related projects?

:)

Take it to the scrap yard. Pressure tanks have raw water from your well flowing through it constantly. Any solid material coming in from the well gets trapped in it, also minerals like iron will build up on the inside of it. Couple that with the fact when they go bad it usually means the rubber bladder inside ruptured and is breaking down releasing rubber particulates into the water.

Rain barrel? Eh? Never mind I agree with Chrisl77 see what you can get form the scrap yard. You never know, you might find something there more useful. The best scrap yards are near universities IMOP usually have a great stainless selection.
