hey i'm new at this art thing, i think the skull is cool. the banners kinda suck i'm working on finding better ones, but what do you guys think of the layout? i'm trying to work with the avery labels 3 1/3 x 4, kinda small.

Thats a whole lot of black ink to be printed. Have you thought about inverting it? Save some money on ink, and the label won't be as likely to distort with all that wet black ink on there.

If you still want lots of black as a compromise, you could etch away like this:

For a woodcut effect. It would give it an Olde Tyme look.

Similar to what you did on the scroll.
 
I think the skull is great and could stand on its own. Forget the banners and put the skull in a black oval and call it good, sort of a brewery logo.
