I will be down in Minneapolis over the Xmas holidays, and am looking for must go to beer spots. I am fairly familiar with the area, but still need maps to get around, so addresses would be helpful.

I have been to Blue Max Liquors on my last trip and was very impressed, and will be back there again. Planning on hitting Town Hall one night.

Any other places that come to mind and would be recommended or avoided.

There are plenty of places, summit brewery is in st. paul, then there is northern brewer and midwest supplies also if you want to look around there also. There is plenty to see and do

check out the happy gnome in st. paul, they got EVERYTHING there. it's a bar with a ****load of beers on tap/bottled, cool place. also went to a brewpub called great water, which is pretty close to the happy gnome, good beer. wanted to check out surly brewery, but they weren't doing tours... went to liquor barrel near midwest and found a very nice selection (compared to iowa, anything is good).

oh yeah, and as suggested, definitely stop in to midwest, it's like being the proverbial kid in a candy store.

The Four Firkins:

Specialty beer store that has fantastic micro's and belgians available. It is a small place, but the owner (Alvey) is incredibly knowledgeable and a great guy to talk shop with. The shop is just a few miles west of Midwest...

Heritage Liquor:

This place is much bigger than the Four Firkins and has a ton of craft brews.

The Bulldog bar and restaurant:

Oh, decisions, decisions! You people in the "Twin Cities" have it so tough! Two massive homebrew suppliers (Midwest is my go-to online store), your own micros, and New Glarus next door! What a deprived existence....we just opened our first brewpub locally (Champaign-Urbana, IL) after a 10 year hiatus, and the earlier micro was an extract brewer. At least we've got local beer again....

Midwest is on schedule, need to get parts to get the keg system up and running.

Midwest is moving in (I believe) early December, I don't see anything about it on the website, but they were handing out little slips of paper with a new address and map. It isn't too far from their current location.
The Four Firkins is a neat craft brew store. http://www.thefourfirkins.com/

After reading this, I emailed Midwest and they are moving a couple of miles from the current store, but were not 100% on the date, just in December. I am going to contact them in December so I know where to go.

In addition to the places already mentioned, Town Hall Brewpub in Minneapolis is fantastic. The best brewpub in the Cities IMO.
