I plan on picking up a few lengths of silicone tubing for a plate chiller (in/out), wort transfer from kettle to tun, and tun to chiller.

What is the typical length used in home brewing, 5ft, 6ft or?

It really depends on where your gear is located. I ordered 15 feet for my 2 vessel set up. Boil kettle & hlt / mlt. I only need about 2 feet to connect the valves to my pump, then 6 feet for the output of my pump to go up and back in to the kettle / mash tun.

I am thinking 5ft per connection to be on the safe side. At $2.10 per foot, I don't want to make any mistakes.
