I started a stout last night. It has been blowing wart out of the one way valve all day. It blew the stopper and one way valve off the fermenter and four feet away. The tempeture has been warm but just in the 76 to 78 range.

Is this normal? Any chance this beer isn't a bust?

at that temp, it doesn't surprise me. it needs to be fermented cooler, so you'll have some off-flavors, but it'll definitely be fermented...

Lower temp would be a good thing. In the meantime, drill the holes out a bit on the air lock a bit, those little holes get stopped up real easy with bits of hops
