Hi All,

This is my first attempt at homebrewing and it doesn't look good!
I had a good frothy head on my batch in the fermenting bin for about a day but then it cleared and the gravity has stuck at 1010 (it's supposed to be below 1006). I have tried rousing the yeast by stirring gently but this has had no effect. It's been in the fermenting bin now for 9 days. Does this just mean that it's finished, or has it not even really started?
Would really appreciate any help you can offer.

NOOOOOOO.

1006 = BMC. (Bad)

1010 = Good...

Bin those instructions you have.

Leave it alone to settle.......

And Welcome to HBT.....you have beer.:mug:

Thanks very much Orfy. Looking forward to trying it!.Could you tell me why it hasn't gone down to the gravity that the instructions suggested? And what does it mean by a higher gravity?

Cheers!

There are a multitude of things that affect fermentation and a change to any one variable can change the way your fermentation proceeds; the stats listed on instructions should be looked at as guidelines, not hard and fast targets.

Higher gravity will give your beer more flavor and body.
