Took a tour at the Sam Adams Brewery in Boston, it isnt really a full production facility, more of an R&D type place. We got to sample the Boston Lager, obviously tasted great, had some summer ale, and followed it up with a Rye beer, forget the name but it was experimental. Tasted a lot like Hoegarden. Fun time, it was fun knowing that I do the same thing in my kitchen (while not AG yet, so most of the things). They did talk about some weird techniques like mixing fermented beer with unfermented beer at certain points specifically for Octoberfest. Also they passed out cups of ingredients and I contemplated walking out with some hops, but decided against it. Heres some linked in pics.

What a cool tour! I'll have too check that out if I'm ever in the area. Sam Adams is actually good quality beer. You don't find that too much in domestic & non-micro. :mug: Thanks for sharing the pictures!

I did this tour last fall and I truly enjoyed it!! I've been to a number of tours, and the thing I liked the best about the Sam tour was that you were all in the big bar room trying the beer together. And they waited until it was all gone before they moved onto the next beer. Kinda cool...that way everyone was on the same page for sampling.

When we went the beers they doled out were all ones we had before. Octoberfest, Boston Lager and Boston Ale...But still a fun tour!

Did you get to keep the sampling glasses?

When I went we got to keep them. I use them for holding hydrometer samples or when I want a small taste out of the keg, they are the perfect size.

My friends SWMBO works there. I went up to visit a couple of years ago for his b-day and got personal tour at about 10am on a Saturday. Actually got to sample some things right out of the fermenters. Cool little place.

Nice pics.

I was in Boston last spring and your pictures just confirmed my observations that everyone must be born in a Red Sox t-shirt/jersey and just never take them off. I think in one of your photos I saw 4 people in Red Sox attire.

I've been there 2 or three times already. It's a fun tour to go on. I like how they throw you into the bar, get you liquored up and send you right through the gift shop. (The guide even made mention that they do it on purpose and they take credit cards :drunk:)

Great pics. Wish I could go but I live in the wrong country! Hopefully I'll get over the pond one day soon.
