Yeast needs to be above 98-less than 110?

I found this statement looking up home-made cola.
Warm a few cups of water to about 100f (baby bottle warm). Above 110f will kill the yeast. Less than 98f and the yeast will not become active enough.

Is there a special thermometer you can use for this? Not sure a candy-therm would work. Thanks
 
Digital, infrared, something that's fairly quick and easy to sanitize.
