I am fixing to brew an Imperial Pale Ale with an OG of 1.075. I will be using WLP001 yeast and I will make a 1 liter starter for it. Is it recommended that I either A) double pitch two vials (even though I am making a starter), or B) re-pitch some dry yeast. If I re-pitch, when is the correct time to do so? Thanks for the input!

Besides, Austin Homebrew calls it "Imperial" so I am just repeating what their kit is called.

For 1.075 I recommend a 2L starter. If that isn't feasible you can use two packages of US-05 which is the same yeast as WLP001. Pitching lots of yeast for a big beer is essential to avoid having a cloyingly sweet, under-attenuated brew. You can do a 2L starter in an apple juice bottle or a growler.

Thanks. I'll go with a 2 liter starter for my INDIA pale ale!
