I tried to google around but could find no answers to this question! I am looking to do a BIAB pumpkin ale. All the recipes i have seen have an actual roasted pumpkin in the mash. wouldnt that get messy when trying to squeeze out all the liquid? any suggestions on getting pumpkin flavor or any idea how messy this will be?

Mashed a pumpkin ale yesterday that was about 3 lbs of roasted pumpkin with about 13 lbs of grain. Didn't have any issues with the lauter, but wasn't BIAB. I've done pumpkin ales in the past, but I'm not sure the pumpkin imparts much flavor. I would spice with the typical pumpkin pie spices and go from there.

I wouldn't worry too much. I did a biab pumpkin ale with 3 lbs of pureed pumpkin and had no issues. Add some whirlfloc if you're concerned about haze. :mug:
