I bought some Vienna malt at the weekend. I've never used this malt before.
What is the color?

Recipe suggestions please for these ingredients:
6lb vienna malt
3lb amber LME
Safale lager yeast
Hallertau hops
Northern Brewer hops

I'm thinking of a few gallons of oktoberfest or similar...

Thanks,
Mike

I'm new at formulating recipes but I think you will need more extract to get anything close to an oktoberfest beer at least at 5 gals. I did a very light lager that used 6 lbs DME. I wouldn't steep more than 1lb of the malt. I am assuming of course that you are doing an extract brew with steeping grains.
You might want to check out this site http://hbd.org/recipator/, it has a free recipe building program you can plug your ingredients into to give you final SG etc.

if you can mash/sparge those grains you should be able to get an o.g. around 1.050+ with the d.m.e...i would shoot for 40 i.b.u.

3 lbs. d.m.e.
6 lbs. vienna
1 oz. n brewer (60 min.)
1 oz. hallertauer (30 min.)
1 oz. hallertauer (5 min.)
1 oz. hallertauer (dry hop)

mash 122f, 154f
