Hello!

Im new at this forum and at brewing beer. So far, i made 2 batches, of which one was spoiled :(, anyway.

I have a question about malt. Today i got a 25 kg sack of malt, castlemaltings pilsen 2 RS. Since this local company here sells minimum 25 kgs, and Id like to have some darker malt, for darker beers,I was wondering if its possible to put this in oven and cook it a bit more :). Would that make it similar to those darker malts, or not.

Thank you for your answers and advice!

Bok!

Yes, toasting it at different temperatures for different times will change the grain and give you different colors and flavors. It may be a trial and error sort of a thing though to find a good combination.

Also, your title is a bit misleading. What you are trying to do is kiln, or toast the grain, not malt it.
