Do most HomeBrew Supply Shops/Liquor Stores carry this much variety, or am I spoiled?
Their website says they have more than 1000 different beers...

No, most homebrew supply stores aren't licensed to sell finished goods. The only one locally is actually two companies in one space, the second being a wine store that has a few beers.
 
You, my dear friend, are one lucky SOB. While I've gotten free beer at the LHBS's (sampled, not gallons), they can't sell any.
