I'm out of light dme and am going to brew a maiboch next week. This being a lighter beer will that hurt? My plan is to use washed 830 and make a small 1to 2 quart starter to wake it up. I can wait fermentation out then crash and decant.

Or should I just postpone until I can get some light dme??

I would use it, but would definitely decant the starter wort after refrigerating for a couple days. You probably even have time to step it up a couple times if you want.

Hopefully that's not necessary as im pitching a slurry.

Is a starter even necessary? The slurry will be 2 to 3 weeks old when I brew.

i'd at least do a small one, maybe a pint or so. That will get it active again and up to pitching temp so you reduce your lag time. Plus you'll get your cell count up which you will need for that bigger beer. But yes I think it's necessary.
