Hi, where do you folks get your water tested?

The local water dept doesn't test for the things we as homebrewers are looking for.

Do you just send out a sample to some lab, and wait for results?

How much does it cost?

Thanks, and cheers!

Did you get the test results? Here is the response I received from Lake County:

Calcium (Tested 2008 to 2011): average 33.5 mg/L or PPM
Magnesium (from 2008 to 2011): average 11.1 mg/L or PPM
Sodium (from 2007-2012): average 6.8 mg/L or PPM
Sulfate (from 2007 - 2012): average 23.5 mg/L or PPM

We don't test for Calcium carbonate or bicarbonate.

No, I haven't sent in samples. I just continued brewing and don't adjust my water at all. My beers are quite tasty, so as of now I leave well enough alone. With a busy family I need to keep my brewing short and sweet!

Masloki, thanks for the info you provided! Someday I'll tinker with my water.
