efficiency question

After reading posts about increasing efficiency I got to thinking. Is the goal to reach as high efficiency as possible or to have a consistent an efficiency as possible. After playing around with so many different recipes in beersmith it seems to me that CONSISTENT efficiency would be best. That way I know how to adjust any recipe (that lists an efficiency) to my own setup.

Am I missing something?

That being said if your below 65% you are leaving a lot of sugar behind.
