Been about 6 weeks in primary now, opened it up to see this.
smell is not bad. though it was about a 1.042 OG
now its at 1.001, kind of scarred to taste it. any thoughts?

Definitely infected. The FG is lower than a normal ale yeast can take it, and you've got a pellicle on it.

I'd wait until the FG doesn't change any more, bottle it up and have a sour.

I'd throw away any plastic that touched this beer, and bleach bomb any glass.

Could be. Pedio makes a similar pellicle. Sometimes it is hard to tell.

Yeah, I'm not sure if it's pedio or lacto. It could even be brett, I imagine, although I'm no expert on infections. I had a lacto infection that didn't get a pellicle, just sour and definite lacto flavor and texture.
