Beer dispenser

Sorry, i didn't really know how to search for this as I don't see a brand name.

Is this thing suitable for conditioning/carbing my homebrew? I figure I can leave the beer in primary till it is clear, put it into a few of these and pressurize them and chill them for 1+ week. I assume 16g co2 is enough for 5L of beer to carbonate? Maybe not, but perhaps the cartrige can be changed after a week before trying to dispense.

That's taken from a Coors Lite or Miller Lite Home Draft keg. They're $20 around me. The issue with them is finding a 16g CO2 cartridge that will actually fit properly. But yes, you can bottle condition, force carb, etc. in these.

I was under the impression that this used the same CO2 as pellet guns. Unfortunately, those are 12g and really cheap as opposed to the 16g overpriced ones that are needed by this system. Bought in a bulk pack: 12g is about 80cents each locally, 16g is about $2+ each looking on ebay (plus shipping that was more than the actual product price).

If you follow one of those threads, you'll also see that not all CO2 cartridges are created equal. Even other brands have different sized cartridges for 16g. I've managed to use a 12g cartridge in mine, but I wouldn't recommend it because I'll usually waste one or two before I get a good seal.

The "Home Draft Mini Kegerator" thread shows how someone managed to connect their CO2 tank to one of these by adding an adapter to the original CO2 cartridge. I'm in the middle of trying this right now.

Okay, I found 16g for cheaper... just over $1 each at an outdoor store - they are used for inflating bike tires if you're too lazy to use a hand pump (or in a race).
