i found a relatively close home brew supply store near me, but i can't seem to get the ingredients i need at a comparable price to nb's kits. for one thing their liquid malt extracts (alexanders) only come in 4 lb. cans. so i bought two 4 lb.er's, some dme, and the hops and such for the rest of my recipe. does anyone have an idea of what my og might be if i only use one 4lb. can and one 1lb. of dme? i'd hate to use all 8 lbs, but if 4 just isn't enough, then i will use it all.

Using the assumption that you have light DME and light LME, I got a quick number of 1.035 in Beer Tools.

If you use both cans, your looking at about 1.062.

Try the recipe calculator at tastybrew.com - it let's you play with a lot of variables and is easy to use.
