repeat mistakes to repeat beer taste?

we made a fantastic dark lager. Everyone loved it. 4lbs pale extract, 3.3 dark. .5 roasted barley, .5 40 crystal, oz cascade at 60 and 15.

now this beer was great BUT. the grains sat cracked for two months. we steaped the grains in cold water as we brought to boil. then pulled them out when boil started. and we boiled with the lid on but cracked open.

do i need to try repeating the mistakes too?
 
+1 - You may have made great beer despite these mistakes, but maybe the beer could have been even better without them. If you don't like the beer as much after correcting your mistakes it would be interesting to try it again with the mistakes and see if you could duplicate the original results. But I think it is worth trying the generally accepted "better" techniques to see what you end up with. They are considered better for a reason.
