I entered two beers and a mead into my first competition which was judged this past weekend. I was shocked to find that my mead got 1st place in the Traditional Mead category and 2nd in Best of Show for meads! None of my beers placed but that's okay. I didn't think I could get any happier but then I was able to feel my unborn son in my wife's belly for the first time! What a great weekend!

Congrats on placing first! What kind of honey/adjuncts did you use? And congrats on the kiddo!

It was the simplest mead you could make. 5 gallons of water, 15 pounds of local honey and some champagne yeast. It sat for 6 months in the carboy and then 6 months in the bottle.
