Low initial gravity

Ok so I just got back into brewing after a 5 year hiatus. Somehow I managed to screw up my first batch by adding an extra gallon of water so my initial gravity is about 1.038 and it should be about 1.042 am I screwed?

nope. just let it go as normal. it'll be a little weak on flavor and abv, but not bad at all. this happens to everyone once in a while
