I currently brew beer, and my brother wants to try making some mead. Can he use my pot, fermenting pail and carboy or do I not want to use the same vessels for making beer and mead? Thanks

Sure, I do it. But you generally only need a fermenter, a carboy, some siphoning tubing, and the hydrometer tube. You don't need a pot (as mead is generally not heated like beer).

You can boil it to make a burned mead, or Bochet, but for plain mead you just stir everything up, pitch the yeast, and wait. I use hot water from my kitchen sink to help dissolve the honey and to get every last drop out of the jar, but theres no need to heat it up on a burner.
