Curiosity got the best of me and I ordered an ounce of wild hops from a website just a few county's away from me. They must have had them tested and they claim a 9.7% AA. Do you think if I popped them open and poured some flavorless light beer over a few of them I could get an idea of what I have?

Make a hop tea from them.. heat up some water and steep them in there.. taste it and smell it.

Like FATC1TY said, the tea option will give you a rough idea. The old rub-n-sniff test is always a good method to give you an idea of what type of aroma and flavor they hold. All of the wild ones I've found over the years have had the typical wild N. American notes. Kinda rank, pungent and what I pick up as B.O.. I think this may be the onion/garlic aroma that others describe. Good luck.
