I'm diabetic so I have to watch my intake of carbs.

Does anybody know which styles of beer might have a substantial ABV (6-9%) and decent flavor without too many carbs? I like barley wines, but maybe Belgians would be a better choice.

Yeah, I feel for you, so I spent about 20 minutes practicing my Googlemancy magic. All I could come up with is that you're best off sticking with light beer styles, as Gila pointed out. Sorry, but it looks like it's either light beer or delicious ale with an insulin chaser. Sorry, but good luck. :mug:

Mayhaps sour beers - really sour beers - would have low enough residual carbs.

I tried Russian River Consecration recently. While I think it's overrated (but Temptation is the poop), it is a VERY dry sour beer with 10% abv!
