This recipe closely follows Avery's grain bill (I recieved the actual grain bill percentages from the brewery itself, the only difference would be their lack or carapils) but does not exactly follow their hop schedule. I guessed on this based on their spec. sheet posted online. On further investigation (post brewing) it seems that they don't use Simcoe as they originally quoted on their webpage. Anyhow, it still is a tasty brew and one I will likely repeat

This beer is just about ready to be tried, I will likely crack one open in the next couple of days and post tasting notes. I suspect there will be quite a bit more "grapefruit/ citrus" flavors on the forefront of my effort compared to Avery's due to the late addition of Simcoe hops not used in their beer.

Did Avery change up the hop schedule in their IPA? I believe they did. I visit their site pretty frequently and if I remember correctly they used to list their IPA as having Columbus, Simcoe, Centennial and Crystal (there might have been one more that I can't recall). Anyway, it looks like they've changed things around recently by substituting in Cascade and Chinook and dropping the Crystal and Simcoe. I don't know why they would change a good thing. I love their IPA. Maybe the hop shortage? Anyway, I guess I'll have to pick up a sixer and try it out to see if I can tell a difference.

I don't know if they have actually changed their recipe, but I also have seen that they quoted different hops at different times. I know that I have a "spec" sheet from their brewery that lists simcoe in the ingredients, which differs from online, which also differs from a 5 gallon batch spec sheet I recieved from a homebrew meeting at the brewery itself (too bad I got this after I already tried this brew out). Anyhow, their beer always tastes the same to me, delicious

How did this beer turn out. I want to make a Hog Heaven Clone. Any advice will be truly welcome.

Thanks

Bump. Just got my hands on some Avery IPA for the first time, and I'd love to hear how this came out.

i see this thread stopped a while back, never heard too much on how it turns out, either way im going to be brewing this in a few days. i dig almost anything Avery so hope it turns out. If anyones got a Salvation Clone HOOK IT UP!

Can anyone turn this into an extract with steeping grains? I would love to make it, but am not to the all-grain level yet.
