I am ready to make cider...everything santized...just one QUICK question. I have some powder K-Meta. I am planning on using 1/16 tspn per gallon (5 gallon batch. I also have pectic enzyme. I understand that the progression whould be as follows...

-Cider, dextrose (2 lbs per 5 gallons), 1/4 tspn k-meta per 5 gallons

-Wait 12 hours UNCOVERED

-Add Pectic enzyme 1/2 tsp/gallon

-Wait another 12 hours with airlock

-Add yeast, then airlock

Comments ?

Thanks !

I'd at least cover it with a towel or some other sort of cloth, simply to keep anything from falling into it. Hair, dust, a stray bug, or a thirsty dog can at the very least be an annoyance. I always cover the primary with a towel & hold it in place with a rubberband. Then I cover it with a lid & airlock after fermentation is going well. Regards, GF.

Yep, that's what I do too. A clean towel works great.
