Young mead taste?

I racked my blueberry and blackberry Mel. today and took the S.G and tasted the sample and wow .... hi alcohol and very astrigent(spelling)! is this normal!

Used 3 lb wildflower and added pectic enzyme and yeast nutrient

OG 1.110
Todays G. 0.98

and its been almost a month!

Mead takes YEARS to get good.
