Hi there,

I have a recipe for a pale ale that I want to make this weekend. When it comes to bottling the beer, the recipe suggests adding corn sugar to the bottles for carbonation. I don't have corn sugar and couldn't find any...would it drastically change the taste of the beer if I just used plain white sugar?

Use ~15% less for bottling.

Some say you might have a 'cidery' flavour, although, if present, this 'flavour' can probably only be detected in lighter beers.

Ive never done it myself, so you may want some additional advice (or a google search) befor proceeding.

For bottling, I've used corn and cane sugar and I really can't detect a difference between the two. I think in larger amounts added before fermentation, there may be some slight difference in flavor between corn and cane. Go for the regular old cane sugar if that's what you have.
