Tasting Notes
levels of taste one after another with a nice orange after taste.
7lbs. Amber light extract - 60min
1lbs. honey - 10 min. till flame out

HOPS
0.5 oz. Cascade - 45 min till flame out
0.5 oz. Cascade - 30 min till flame out
0.5 oz. Cluster - 10 min - till flame out

1 lbs. orange peel after the 7 day in the secondary

Easy enough recipe, I like it. Just noticed it says 1lb of orange rind.
Did you use the whole rind(pith and all) or just zest?

I used the zest and one day decided to use the whole peel. It's easier to pick out. Didn't affect the flavor at all. Besides you need to use a lot of oranges to get enough zest to get the same orange flavor. Try either way and let me know what works best for you. This was a second batch that I tried.

What a good time to let the rind sitting in secondary ? Thanks new at this

Seven days, never tried more than that, don't think it would make such a difference in the taste if left longer. Most the time I would end up bottleing and aging it for 4 weeks for the brew to mature properly.

Is it difficult to get the orange peels out of the secondary? I saw some pictures and couldn't imagine trying to get them all out.

Do you need to do anything special to the peels before adding them and does it matter how much orange is still on them?
