Frozen fermenting - Literally

So i took the advice of a couple of guys on here and put my carboy outside to coldcrash. temp 5F. it seems to have worked on my 5gal batch. i also had a 1/2 batch that had ice form over the top and sides. (i am an idiot:() would there be any damage done? still going to try and save but looking to see if anyone elese has froze their batches
 
I've had beers forgotten about in the freezer before, thawed them out and they were fine. don't know how freezing would affect yeast and the fermentation process though
