Sure; that's the best way to fix that "problem". But you want to make sure that your reading was correct:
- Make sure your wort is very well-mixed. Shake it up for a couple of minutes before collecting your sample
- Make sure your hydrometer is calibrated properly
- Make sure you temperature-correct your hydrometer reading
