Plastic Commercial Fermenters?

I have never used plastic ferms commercially, but for a time when I was at Bell's in the 80s we used 40gallon, food grade "trash cans" for crash cooling. I see mention of plastic ferms on probrewer.com from time to time, some places are using them so they must be ok too.
Yes it's fine. I know of three local breweries that use plastic.
