Does anybody know if those fermenter heaters that wrap around the outside of your bucket/carboy work. If so would it work to keep it at around 60-70 deg in a cool garage thats around 50 deg?

That's a big enough temp differential that you'll end up wasting a lot of power if you don't insulate your carboy. Why not ferment in your living quarters for an ale and ferment a lager in the garage?

I do ferment in the house. I just saw one of these online and was wondering thier efficiency if any. Always looking for ways to improve .

Hey AleHole,
What part of Seattle are you in? We should meet up for a beer. Not many of us Seattlites on the board.

Edit: Ah, I see now that you're in Des Moines.
