What is the right way to manual siphon while filling bottles? I have an auto siphon but in case I need to manual siphon like today, when I had the wrong size bottle filler I would like to know. It seems like you would get beer all over the place trying to attach the hose to the bottle filler after the siphon is started.

I am not sure how to siphon without an auto siphon at all.

I use the autosiphon to siphon into my bottling bucket, and then attach the bottle filler to the spigot on the bottling bucket. If you have to siphon, though, you need one of those hose clamps. You can start the siphon into a clean and sanitized container (so the tubing stays sanitized). Then, clip the clamp closed and allow the end to drain. Then stick the bottle filler on the end of the tubing. Then open the clamp. That should work ok. (But......a bottling bucket is about 100 times easier!)
