Question- This may sound really stupid, but how long does beer last in a keg? Is it just as long as a bottle? Thanks for humoring this novice question-

Depend on the same factors as bottled conditioned beer. OG, hopping rates, etc... Beer can and will last several months or more in the keg depending on style, and typically improves to a certain point just as with bottles. It's even possible to use part of a keg, purge with CO2 and remove to storage and hook it up again later.

i have always heard up to 2 years on a keg 6 months if its been tapped but i belive the average for a full keg is like a year

It depends on the type of beer more than anything else as long as there's no O2 contact or infection. An imperial stout will last a lot longer than a hefe (and that stout won't even be good until long after the hefe has gone south).
