Brewdaster day,

1st) 5 gallon mash tun does not hold 13#s of grain, plz insert idiot here... (me) Kinda like going to the candy store when you are hungry, have no idea what I was thinking.

2nd) I have temp control problems try overshooting your mash temp all the way to frikkin 180!! Can’t wait to drink my coo laid

hopefully I saved enough of the grain I had to scoop out of tun and converted it to something resembling yeast food, and the pound of light malt will help and the addition of a crap load of hops.

Just realized I don’t know a clue what I am doing.

Here's what I use for my mash volume calculation:
total volume (gal) = 0.115*lbs_grain + mash_water_gallons

I originally used this calculator, but found that it underestimated the volume of the mash and I had to leave out grains:

I notice they also have a mash temperature calculator, but I've never used it.
Hope this helps.

Does anyone have a good "Brew Log"

When to take temps, PH, starch test, etc? Trying to not reinvent the wheel, I do that enough with everything else.

Thanx in advance
