I am building my brew system and I'm trying to figure out home I want to set up my Burners. I am building a single tier HERMS system with dual pumps and will have burners for the HLT and kettle. Any suggestions on how to do this? I need to figure what pieces I need to purchase along with the burners.

I use the banjo on my keggle setup, it rocks, super powerfull and gets up to a boil quickly, even when BK is full to the brim, I have to turn the damn thing down all the way once up to a boil. Love the brew stand, looks like no welding needed, just bolted together, what a great idea! What do you call that metal railing and where can you find it?... homedepot/lowes?

This is the burner that I use...

That's the burner I wanna use. Where do I find what I should be getting for regulators and such?

I bought the whole burner setup with stand and regulator. The specs list the burner as using a "UL-listed 30 PSI regulator" and can be purchased on amazon...

Also where did you get that erector set looking brew stand material???? What is it called and where can it be purchased? I love the no weld solution, looks awesome!

Thanks! I also found a cheaper product called superstrut that is sold at both lowes and homedepot, see below, but I am not sure how to fasten the superstrut together, especially what fasteners to use on a corner joint that will have at least 3 beams connecting...

Check out this thread: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/my-weldless-build-using-strut-363128/

The site he used to get his hardware from is where I got mine. Way cheaper than Home Depot or Lowes. To build mine I used about 60 bolts.

I just did a test run with my new burner and keggle set up, to burn off the paint and whatnot. I like it so far. Im doing a new batch next weekend so i'll do another video and a review on it.

Thanks! Definitely helpful info

If your using keggles this is how I set it up. The long sections are 5ft long, the center sections are 14" long, and the vertical ones are 16" long. I used 4 ten piece lengths to build this. May use one more to mount the controller box but I'm not sure yet.

I used an angle grinder to cut and it worked well. If you can come across a chop saw that would help the cuts be a little straighter.

I think my pan is to get two of these. Not bad of a price since it includes the burners, hose, regulators, and wind shields. I'm gonna get rid of the supports and attach them to my brew stand. Any thoughts?

You wont be disappointed and you should be happily surprised at how powerful the burners really are. Only downside is that it uses a lot of gas. I believe I can get through two 10 gallon batches on a 5 lb propane tank, not terrible but if you have natural gas available you might explore that option.

Also if you are looking for a more gas sipping burner check out the camp chefs, I have used these on 10 gallon batches and they rock, not as powerful and fast as the banjo but definitely a solid burner, that is whisper quiet... decisions... decisions...

You're going to need a tank larger than the standard 20 lb propane tank to utilize the btus from that burner. Iirc, the maximum btu from a 20 pounder is 96k btu. That's with a full tank at 70F

What's the difference between a 20lb tank and a larger one that would make that much of a diffference?

The boil off rate is lower on a 20 lb.

I have a couple of those burners. My tank constantly freezes in the summer because I try to run them too hot. When I called the mfgr., they suggested a larger tank as a remedy.

Don't get me wrong, I like the burners. You shouldn't expect to achieve the advertised btu rating when using the standard grill tank, though. It's not physically possible

Yep, I have had to switch tanks mid boil due to this. The first tank basically freezes even though it is not empty. That is the only downside that I have had with the banjos.

Oh and to clarify, the first tank (that almost freezes is not empty when this happens

Never had an issue with 5lb propane tank freezing and have done at least 15 brews at least 10 gallons on the banjo but I don't run the burner at full bore, totally not necessary... At what point during your brew are you running into a freeze?

Even on my small turkey fryer I use now I don't have to have it going full blast to keep a boil. I don't see with these why I would have to.

I barely crack it open to keep a good boil too. Just sometimes (especially in th winter) I get a tank that shows signs of being frozen... easy fix: Have 2 tanks! Worst case scenario I lose a boil for a matter of seconds.

When its warmer I have no issues. The banjos are great, they just kinda suck up the fuel. I will be converting mine to natural gas in a few months or more. Hopefully that will fix the only issue I've had so far.
