My last 2 AG batches I have had problems raining the mash temp up to 170 with the mash out water. I have been using 200 degree water to try to raise the mash to 170 in prep for lautering and sparging. I started with a mash of 154 and it only raised to 158 with 1 gallon of 200 degree water. Should I use boiling water instead?

Thanks in advance

On average, I generally my mash tun consists of about 12 pounds of grain with 4ish gallons of water at 152F. If I add 2 gallons of boiling water, it almost always brings it up to about 168-169F. It takes a lot of very hot water to raise the mash temperature even just a little bit.
