i grabbed an lb of leaf and i'm looking to try something that showcases the columbus...any thoughts on the recipe below? its a little high on the ibu for an apa so i'll probably adjust it down a little, maybe .75 oz at 60 min. any other thoughts?

What's the point of the corn sugar? Do you intend to dry the beer out a bit, or did you just add this to hit your target OG? I would omit the corn sugar. It only adds about 0.02 gravity points anyway.

Everything else looks great!

yeah, the corn sugar was just to dry it out a little. thanks for the reply. gonna try and brew it tonight.

It's amazing how many extract brewer's use carapils.

Carapils is already in extract.

You're going to lose more than 0.50 gal in a 60 minute boil btw.

Hops look good.

It is usually in there, along with crystal malts, etc, but it's usually not clearly defined when you buy extract, that's all.

Agreed. There's probably anywhere from 2-10% carapils in extract depending on the manufacturer and grade.

thanks for the input. i tossed my 60 min addition in at 6:07. i made a few small changes to the recipe, found .5 lb of DME and tossed it in too. also adjusted AA for the hops. Here is what's going down ->

EDIT1: on the evaporation rate, i know i do lose more than .5 gallons. i usually start with 6.5 but i'm also lazy and haven't updated the equipment in brewtarget. brew on!
EDIT2: it's in the bucket and i already pitched the us05. recipe also changed b/c i used 7lb LME instead of 8 in the first post. for the first time experience with columbus i think i'll like it. smells big and spicy with a great nose. i'll try and report back in 2-3 weeks when i rack to the keg and dry hop.
