i just came across this thread. it works unless you want to see your stirbar in less than a year. sounds no good to me.

Well, there is the transfer off the yeast bit to consider. And, I usually use a magnet to "fish" the stir bar out anyway. I did end up using the stir bar and I think it helped to keep the honey in suspension. Otherwise it all wanted to settle.
