Ive just started kegging and when cleaning a keg to be filled It came up with a metallic smell as soon as i put starsan in it.

The kegs were refurbished from lhbs but apparently not cleanded thoroughly.
I cleaned them with really hot (basically boiling) water and dishwashing machine powder, let soak then scrubbed with a brush. Rinsed out several times.
At this point it was smelling fine as was the starsan.
As soon as I put the starsan in the keg, or the lid in to starsan, the smell came up.
A rinse with hot water removed the smell.

Whats causing this? is my starsan too strong? Is something wrong with my keg?

I always notice kind of a funny smell from starsan once its exposed to oxygen. Whenever I buy a new (refurbished) keg I soak them in hot water and a lil pbw over night just to get it nice and clean. Not sure what would be causing the smell but I do know that star san will remove the layer of oxidation from alluminum kettles, maybe its doing something similar with your kegs?
