So I am going to make some spiced apple wine for next year's holidays. From the search I just did, suggestions called for ONE clove per gallon (in the secondary). Am I reading this correct that this is one little twiggy clove for a gallon. It doesn't seem like much. Can you do it with ground spice too?
I'm thinking clove, cinnamon, all spice and nutmeg.

A little clove goes a long way, in my experience. Never tried it in secondary before though.
